Using Geolocation targeting to drive sales

The app What3words gives businesses the power to precisely guide customers to their location anywhere in the world.

Have you heard of the app What3words? It is the greatest development in geolocation since the GPS was invented. A whole new level of precision is possible and done in a fun and memorable way.
How it works
The way it works is that the organization divided the entire world into a grid of 3m x 3m squares (over 57 trillion of them), then assigned each one a unique 3 word address. This is simpler than using traditional degrees, minutes, and seconds to describe geolocation.

Word groupings are far easier for people to remember and result in fewer mistakes. Being off by a single numerical digit can greatly skew your location. Whereas what3words is set up so that directly adjacent squares are all very different and similar word locations are scattered around the world as far from each other as possible.

Personal applications

There are numerous applications. If you find a specific location, you can then get directions to it with your favorite mapping app, like Google or Apple Maps. You can direct delivery people to your specific front door in an apartment complex, too.

This app can also allow friends to find each other in a crowded store. Or you can set up a picnic in a field in the woods. Anywhere you need precision in geolocation is a possible application.


How to use it for business
In the business world, it can eventually help with precision drone based deliveries and be more accurate than just a street address. Imagine getting a package in the middle of a parking lot and not just at your home.

Even emergency vehicles or Uber drivers can make use of the app by precisely locating a person who says they are at wafted.cultured.indent

Or if you are a food truck, you can share your location on social media and drive business by picking spots that have appetizing 3 word combinations. At the very least, it helps customers find you, instead of guessing based on landmarks or street addresses since food trucks can't usually park directly at the corner of second and main.
